How to Sew a Book + Report by Jounin-SZ How to Sew a Book + Report by Jounin-SZ
In case you want to have a spiffy book-like report, or just want to make a book :o

I made it for someone, but in the end it was useless x_x
Not that I'd dump trash in deviantart D:

**EDIT: The old step 7 wasn't that sturdy. I tested it out again and found a more secure (and easier) way.**

***Edit 2: Added materials and info/tips***

I've searched a long time for a well done book binding tutorial, and, I have to say, this helped me a lot. Such a great job!  :iconclappingplz:

Good to have this tutorial in for of an image. I always had to look it up on YouTube.

Though I'd definitely add "once your papers are aligned you can bind them with a sturdy paper clip (clam type) to avoid movement while sewing"

Ooh, that's a really good idea! I don't have those but I'm sure it'd be useful for those who do! Thanks!

This is probably my favourite tutorial for bookbinding thus far in my searches. It's VERY easy for someone like me (I've had zero experience with bookbinding, but I'm starting to look at it so I can make my own book :squee:) to follow and it's thorough, and complete, and and... Just great in general :D

Thank you so much for posting this!

Soooooo....what kind of needle and thread do you use? I mean is the thread like sewing thread or more like string?
And how thin is the paper? I mean, what would you reccomend? I could find out through trial and error but while I'm doing that I might as well know the right way too. = P

Great tutorial. Really simple and it's like...you don't need to go out of your way so much to get materials to do it. = D

I used sewing thread. It's much easier to put in the needle anyway. Plus, if you want it to be stronger, just fold your string to double it (like fold it in half then put it on the needle).
Well I managed to do this using sheets of card paper, so this method should be perfectly fine for copy paper and construction paper as long as your needle doesn't make a gaping hole in the paper.

Thanks ><

well i'm pretty sure mine will stay together.
i hope D:
and i think my teacher wants to see that i actually used thread to keep it together. she can't see it if i cover it! and if i actually do it your way, it'll most likely come out weird.
damn this is getting long xD

My way takes effort so hope is not required... x_x
I bent my needle because I pushed too hard D:
You can sort of see it when you cover it :T

LOL. my teacher told me to make the holes first and thennnn thread the book.
i think that might be better if you don't want to bend your needle d:
ahh i think i'll go with your way.
and yea, what thread was used? O:

Normal sewing thread. If you prefer something else, go for it, but I used sewing thread because yarn was too faht for the needle ._.
